Australia’s UA3 online courses

Edmonton Lifelong Learners Association (ELLA) Posted on April 9, 2020 by Carol VaageApril 9, 2020

ELLA has researched UA3 and found them to be a reputable organization with great courses. These courses are text based and not interactive, like ELLA’s Virtual Learning Zoom courses. However, there is a wide variety to choose from. To see their selection – go to Other Learning Opportunities – Third Age Learning tabs.

Can  We Help?

As we all know the next few months are going to present a challenge for everyone.  Many people will either have to self-isolate or will choose to stay away from group activities.

As a member of U3A Online, you will know how studying at home, if you can’t get to a local U3A, is the next best thing.

So, I am writing to suggest that you might like to forward this email to anyone who you feel might benefit from knowing about U3A Online in this current situation.

We would also open our membership to anyone over 40 and anyone who is disabled or housebound

Please find attached a brief Special Newsletter which sets out what they might want to know.

Regards

Jean Walker

Announcing the University of Alberta’s 14th President

Edmonton Lifelong Learners Association (ELLA) Posted on March 21, 2020 by Carol VaageMarch 21, 2020

To the University of Alberta Community:

It is my honour and privilege to announce that Bill Flanagan has been named the 14th president and vice-chancellor of the University of Alberta, effective July 1, 2020.

A week ago, I planned to share this exciting news with you today in person, but the rapid response to COVID-19 led to a quick and necessary change in plans. As board chair, I have been proud of our community’s response and want to thank all of you for your extraordinary efforts. Just as teaching, learning and working have moved to remote delivery, so has this major announcement moved online. I now have the pleasure of introducing you to our next president.

COVID-19 WEB PAGE RESPONDS TO SENIORS’ NEEDS

Currently, we have listed information for the following organizations:
  • Canterbury Foundation
  • Caregivers Alberta
  • Central Lions Seniors Association (CLSA)
  • Drive Happiness
  • Early Onset Dementia Alberta Foundation (EODAF)
  • Edmonton Lifelong Learners Association (ELLA)
  • Edmonton Meals on Wheels
  • Edmonton Seniors Centre (ESC)
  • Jewish Senior Citizen’s Centre
  • Mill Woods Seniors Association (MWSA)
  • Multicultural Health Brokers Co-operative
  • North Edmonton Seniors Association (NESA)
